Weddings: I believe as a photographer, it is important to offer more than just photos; I offer an experience. I offer friendship – I will be honest. I give my opinions when you need them. I offer free advice. Planning a wedding is not easy. I can direct you to other vendors, provide feedback, and be a listening ear. I love all the details about weddings – that’s what got me into weddings in the first place. I am sincere and I care about you, that means when you have a wedding problem, I help diffuse it (if I can). And in the end, many of my brides become my friends for life. I am passionate about photography and it’s more than a job, it is part of who I am. I love that I get to be part of your “happily ever after.”
Family portraiture: The most important part about family portraiture is documenting a moment in time, even if just for the hour. As with weddings, my job is not to just capture the photos of everyone smiling, but to capture the moments that help time stand still. In my opinion, anyone can capture a family photo…but you want a professional photographer to grab the candid moments that are “real.” That shot of the siblings laughing so hard that they cannot breathe or dad grabbing onto mom’s hand. I like to talk to the kids, ask them what their favorite foods are, and as they’re describing it, capturing that look on their face – you know, the one that shows pure excitement! For me, the real moments are captured while another photographer waits for your family to “get into position.”
All portraiture (seniors, maternity, etc) is viewed in the same “light” as family portraits (except newborn photography)…I will capture the traditional shots, like the yearbook photo for your senior portraits, but I’m also going to have you dance around and be goofy so I can capture your “true” smile as you laugh uncontrollably, or give me your “football-stance-cool-guy-pose.” I like to have a balance between the shots that you’ll put above your mantle versus the shots you’ll want to post for all your friends on Facebook. After all, most of my clients end up liking the goofy the best and those are the photos that go above the fireplace.
My philosophy is simple: capturing life’s simplicities, one photo at a time. Don’t worry, I’ll also grab that “perfect” photo for your holiday card too.
