Education: I spent 7 years in college. I have an AAS from Bellevue College with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Eastern Washington University, where I focused on English Literature, writing and communications. I received my MA from Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA), in Human Services: Business Management. My “goal” was to work for a major fortune 500 company in HR Management, but quickly learned that my passion wasn’t there. I did dribble in a few photography classes, all in film.
Experience: I have been a professional photographer for 6 years. I have fine art all over the state. I have been commissioned for work in apartment/condominium complexes to the Capitol Building in Olympia and used to belong to several galleries, including Parklane Gallery in Kirkland before switching 90% to weddings and portraiture. I’ve done well over 300+ portrait sessions (that’s when I stopped keeping record) and over 100 weddings as well. I have done weddings from Italy to San Francisco and Coeur d’Alene, to places all over the state of Washington. My style mixes a photojournalistic approach with a mixture of posed and set-up portraits. I like capturing details and moments. I love beach shoots and anything outdoors. I do almost all types of photography from weddings, engagements, senior portraits, maternity, newborn and family portraits. I have also done pet photography, real-estate photography and head-shots. I still think my favorite photography is with engaged couples? There is nothing more fun that working with two people who are so in-love!
For fun: I enjoy writing, reading books that you cannot put down, cooking from scratch, sitting in cafes in Italy, walking on the beach and breathing in the sea-air. I run, not as a competitive sport, but because it’s good exercise, and let’s be honest…I do it for the “bling” (medals) at the end saying “I’ve finished.” I’m goal oriented and enjoy challenges. When someone tells me “you can’t do it,” it only pushes me to prove them wrong. I love playing the piano and learned to play when I was 8.
A little about me: I’m a proud military spouse and entrepreneur. My husband has been in the US Navy for 11 years. We’ve done deployments, distance and we are even more in-love than when we said “I do.” We have been blessed with a beautiful son. Our journey to have a child was difficult, but God has been graceful, especially when we thought it wasn’t possible. I believe in God, and Jesus is my Savior. I have learned that my address is not what matters most: it’s spending your life surrounded by the ones you love. I have been blessed more than I deserve, and I thank God every day for this life, even when it is painful. I am inspired by the simplicities that surround me. I love to breed creativity and I cannot wait to see what the next chapter brings…
